YUVA SUMMIT, an event which brought together over 1,000 college youth from across 5 states and encouraged leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship through awards, project exhibitions, and panel sessions. Participants got to hear from and network with a national and international group of mentors, faculty, young entrepreneurs, students, innovators and LEAD alumni.


Yuva Summit Kick Off

On 2nd February the most awaited day of the year, Yuva Summit began in the early morning at 7.30 AM at the registration desk by welcoming all guests, LEADers, Prayanees and faculties.

The inauguration of 9th Yuva Summit was done in a very unique way by painting a sketch to make “YUVA SUMMIT” on it. Followed by the paint, and the welcome dance the event was continued by the session of Mr. Pradeep Nair, Regional Director, Ford Foundation. Mr. Ajay Suman Shukla addressed the crowd for the further information of schedule of Yuva Summit.


Project Showcase

Every year LEADers from various locations come up with many ideas and work on them to develop society in any means. Top 40 community development oriented initiatives of LEADers were showcased during the event which has impacted lakhs of lives. Guest speakers visited all the project exhibition and appreciated their work for the society.


LEAD Talk

LEAD Talk, which opens an opportunity for young people from the LEAD program to share their inspiring stories on the platform of change. Hailing from across India, these young leaders inspired the audience of not only their peers but their elders too. The young people in the LEAD talk are the ones who have transformed themselves from an ordinary student to a LEADer would talk about the growth as a LEADer, innovator and entrepreneur. Following LEADers addressed the youth, Mr. Varadh Kulkarni spoke about his journey from being a student to an entrepreneur. Two amazing girls, Miss. Monika Singh and Miss. Riddhima Dwivedi spoke about the initiative of Padbox in Varanasi. Another lady from the same city took an initiative on spreading awareness about the government schemes, Miss. Ena Ray. Mrs. Vimala Kadam did not stop after her marriage to work for the development of society, she also shared her experience. Taking care of the community is as important as developing it, Mr. Sharan Pradeep shared his experience of the initiative he took to help people to come out of depression. Mr. Vishwanath, Peer Auditor, HGS Company shared his journey in front of the crowd.


Interaction with Speakers

Mr. Pratap N. M., young scientist says, “Always ask WHY to know the answers” is the key to knowledge. From his talk he advised the crowd to never to give up on your dreams no matter how life and people surrounding are unfair. It is important to think only about goal. He also told everyone to be grounded because the humble. Mr. R. S. Hiremath, 4 times National Awardee inspired everyone with his speech. His speech made everyone believe that “Innovation distinguishes a LEADer and a follower”. He has nearly 600 innovations and he motivated crowd by advising them to be honest in every step of life.

After the lunch break the inspiring sessions continued by Captain Naveen Nagappa who is a Kargil War Veteran, Sena Medal who brought patriotism of LEADers at a new level. He shared his experiences in Army and the disciplined life he has had. He asked the youth to serve for this country one or other way. Captain Naveen says, “Disabilities can never stop you from your goals and if they do then you need to change your look out”.

Miss. Carrie Morgirdge of Morgridge Foundation and Mr. Amitabh Shah, Founder of Yuva Unstoppable carried forward the session by conducting a panel session where they spoke about their work experiences with the problems in society. They also shared their views and personal stories with LEADers present there. Mr. Gerald Chertavian, Founder and CEO of Year Up shared his view on how youth plays an important role in the development of country. He has been working with Urban Youth for more than 25 year.


Panel Sessions:

Innovators Panel Session:

The innovators panel involved LEADers who have invented and created solutions for the society. The young Scientist, Mr. Pratap N M, Mr. Niranjan Kargi, Mr. Prajwal and Mr. Yuvraj were the innovators in this panel session. These innovators have come up with solutions and created products for betterment of society.

Faculty Panel Session:

Faculty panel session involves various faculties from all over locations where they all meet and share their ideas about how a Student’s life along with the society can be developed. The session was moderated by Mr. Ajay Suman Shukla (Director, LEAD).

 


Interviews of LEADers and Speakers:

Yuva Summit is a day where LEADers from various location come together. These LEADers are the ones who would have taken unique initiatives. Also alumni come together to remember their golden LEAD days. LEAD Social Media came up with an idea of interviewing these LEADers about their journey and experiences with LEAD. Miss. Vaishnavi Patil and Miss. Vanishree Badiger interacted with all these LEADers.

While there were lots of things happening in the front end, Miss. Rasika Mangle continued with second version of Doer’s Adda, where she had a little chat with all the honourable guests of Yuva Summit.


Yuva Awards:

LEAD not only supports for the good cause but also appreciates the LEADers for their great initiatives. Among all the initiatives few were remarkable and had more impact than other. Such projects and the LEADers were awarded as Yuva Awardee. Following LEADers were awarded as Yuva Awardee for their initiatives. 

 


Flashmob and Rally towards Infosys

After all the brainstorming session a small treat for the brain was necessary and that was given by the LEAD Social Media crew. The flash mob in the Deshpande Educational trust campus activated the energy in all the youth and also within the audience present there. Later the LEAD Prayana team performed an energetic performance which made the atmosphere and joyous.

This amazing crowd then marched towards Infosys campus Hubbali for an Evening with the legends. This was the most awaited time of the year for all the LEADers which was ultimately the award ceremony which held the motto to appreciate and reward few of the best works of the year.


Evening with achievers

A pannel session was conducted as “Evening with achievers” where Miss. Divya from agriculture unit and Miss. Namrata from Impact family of Deshpande Foundation were the moderator for the session.

The panelist for the session were Mr. Ishwarappa, farmer, Mrs. Sumitra, founder of Vinita foods who empowered over 12 women to become financially stable, Mr. Chetanswami from Deshpande Education Trust beneficiaries and Miss. Chandrika studying in 6th std, vasanti school.

They spoke about how Deshpande Foundation changed their lives and made an impact on their life.


Award Ceremony and Evening with legends

What an evening it was, where the campus treated everyone with the best ambiance and amazing people. The evening with the legend commenced with a patriotic show of Bhagat Singh and his life story. The show brought chills of patritoism for everyone.

This was followed by the Award Ceremony where Best LEADers, Best Faculty, and the Best Colleges were awarded by the beloved guest panel.

Further panel session was continued by Dr. Gururaj Deshpande, (Founder, Deshpande Foundation), Mr. Narayan Murthy (Co- Founder, Infosys), Mr. Bharat Desai (Founder, IT consulting and outsourcing company Syntel), Hon. Krishna Byre Gowda (Minister of Rural Development, Law and Parliamentary Affairs) and T.M Vijay Bhaskar, (Chief Secretary, Government of Karnataka). They spoke about the importance of youth in the development of a country and give Hubballi as an example for it. They also suggested LEADers to never stop Innovating as development of the country depends on it.


Fireside Chat

The fireside chat included Ms. Manasi Kirloskar, (Business and Social Entrepreneur), Mr. Nishith Acharya (Advisor, Global Organizations), Ms. Gauri Arora (Private Sector Specialists, United Nations Residential Office), Mr. Prince Kapoor (Co-Founder, Urban Essentials), Mr. Keton Munoth (Co- Founder, Urban Essentials), Ms. Prema M (Founder, Outline India) and Mr. Ajay Suman Shukla (Director, LEAD).

In this session LEADers learnt about Sustainable Development Growth i.e. (SDGs) and how the initiatives taken by everyone relates to this initiative. The panelist spoke about their business and the initiatives which touches to the motto of 18 Sustainable Development Growth plans. In the interactive session with LEADers all the guests guided them with facts of being a successful entrepreneur or a business holder.
