Tribute to our war heroes, Kargil Vijay Diwas


Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on July 26 every year as remembrance of Kargil War heroes who were the core for the success and  victory of 1999 Kargil War with Pakistan. Kargil Vijay Diwas was named after the success of Operation Vijay by the India Army . The Kargil War in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir took place after Pakistani troops crossed the Line of Control and occupied Indian posts on the heights of major ranges. It took about three months for the Indian forces to recapture the posts.

Paying a tribute to the Kargil war heroes, LEADers of Deshpande Foundation conducted a lot of activities in their respective locations.

As part of The Kargil Vijay Diwas Celebration, LEADers of BLDEA’s KCP,  Vijayapur conducted a elaborate program comprising of lot of elements such as Felicitation of  Ex Army Soldier Mr. Babu. Kori who was a part of The operation Vijay of the Kargil mission.

The National Flag was hoisted after which Mr. Babu. Kori interacted with students on the topics of KVD and the sacrifices made by soldiers for our nation.

LEADers of Davangere DRM Science College celebrated Kargil Vijay Divas by conducting a event of huge size. Chief guest for the evening was Sergeant. Mahendrakar, Indian Air force participated. A war veteran who fought many battles including the one  in 1971 war which was against Pakistan.
Guests for the evening were Subedar. Sunil. Nagare Indian Army; Hawaldar. Hanumnath. Gudi, Indian Army; Smt. Deepashree Rammohan wife of Colonel. Rammohan and Prof. B S Nagaratnamma, Principal DRM Science college Davangere.

An enlightening, interactive session was held where the panelist spoke about sacrifices, comrades and importance of individual contributions to bring a big major change. A crowd of more than 200 students had gathered to witness and be part of this event. A lot of students got motivated to join the Indian Armed Forces to serve and protect the mother land.

Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated by LEADers from VSM college BCA and BBA college Nippani by Felicitating EX Army officer, Subedar. Ashok. Suryavamshi and Havaldar, Shankar Dangi, medium regiment, Indian Army.

The session conducted later brought awareness among the LEADers about the conditions at the border and situation of the Army. The panelist spoke about sacrifices and duty bound soliders. Many youth were motivated to peruse carrier as Indian Army Officer.
