On the 29th of March, 2019, the aroma of the famous Benne Dosa was not the only thing that woke up the LEADers in Davangere but a participation in LEAD Valedictory event at the Bapuji Polytechnic College, Davangere certainly illuminated the city. An uproar in the auditorium kick-started the event. The event began with welcoming the students at the registration desk. Chief Guest Dr. Basavaraja Banakara (Registrar, Evaluation, Davangere University, Shivagangothiri, Davangere), President Prof. Veeresh K S, (Principal Bapuji Polytechnic College Davangere) inaugurated the project showcase. LEADers perform activities in the terms of projects. The best amongst several initiatives are given chance to exhibit in the valedictory. The chief guest, president and other guest of honours appreciated LEADers for their initiatives.

LEADer Sushama and LEADer Pooja welcomed the Chief Guests and guest of honours. With this, a video showcasing the glimpses of all the activities that the LEADers involved themselves in the past year enthralled the audience in the hall. Just like how you must have God’s blessings before you start anything, LEADer Chaitra sang the invocation song that upraised the event. The Guests for the noon inaugurated the event by watering a sapling.

The event was followed by LEAD talk. LEAD talk is an activity of LEADers sharing about the learning and the changes they have adapted in their life through the LEAD platform. LEADers speak about the learning and the changes they have adapted in their life through LEAD platform.  LEADer Bhuvaneshwari from DRM Science College, Davangere said, “LEAD has helped me to gather stage courage and have gained experiences through project exposures and I have adapted a important factor, “Patience”. LEAD LEADership camp and LEAD Prayana has helped me to build network outside Davangere.  LEADer Abhilash, a Prayanee of a 14 days journey LEAD Prayana 2019 stated his journey and how it has changed his perspective towards life. LEADer Raja B., student of Bapuji College told how he learnt life ethics in LEAD Prayana 2019. LEADer Lakshmi learnt from her two years of expereince in LEAD to face the challenges and with the same she took the challenge of becoming a better LEADer every year. In LEAD Prayana and in LEAD LEADership camp she realized that there are bigger problems in the world and to resolve those she should not give up in her life.

LEAD celebrated International Women’s Day under the theme of “Recognizing the Unrecognized women”. LEADers and LEAD team from Davangere, Chitradurga and Hiriyur identified inspiring women in the regions. Mrs. Mamata Umesh and Mrs. Anitha Nandish are running an abacus academy in Davangere since last 6 years. Mrs. Mamata has struggled a lot in her life, giving best life and quality education to children is her dream. Mrs. Anitha Nandish has completed her bachelors and joined Mrs. Mamata 2 years back. Mrs. Usha is an ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) in a village called Kasavanhalli at Hiriyur Taluka. She has treated 434 pregnant ladies. Ms. C. Suma is running a successful beauty parlour at Challekere, Chitrdurga. She stood up when there was no one to support her. With the help of bank loan she started her business and takes care of her children. These super women were appreciated at the LEAD Valedictory by the guests of the event.

The thing that grabbed everyone’s ears was the impact report given by Miss. Tanveer Taj, Program Officer, LEAD. Davangere and Chitradurga location have 1172 LEADers from 15 colleges. But it is not the matter of number of students that matters it is also the impact that LEADers make. 968 inspiring leadership projects have been implemented in the communities of the Davangere, Chitradurga, and Hiriyur. More than 8050 students were trained in this year. From this location one student and one college have received awards in the International Conference, Yuva Summit 2019.

The most awaited part of LEAD Valedictory is award ceremony at the event. In the award ceremony, LEADers who have taken the best and impactful initiatives were awarded in the valedictory. All the LEADers are also students at one or another college. Without the support of college it would have been difficult to reach the society and to the students. To appreciate the support provided by colleges some colleges and the faculties were awarded as the best supporting colleges. Here are the LEADers and the faculties who were awarded in the LEAD Valedictory 2019 at Davangere. A group of the LEADers from Davangere has always been active in a year performing various activities as part of LEAD. LEADers Bhuvaneshwari, Manoj, Abhilash, Shweta, Lakshmi, Dinesh Satish L, Kavya K, Abhigna and Divya were awarded as the most active group of Davangere region. And Govt. Polytechnic College, Hiriyur and Jain Institute of Technology, Davangere were awarded as the Best Supporting College on the occasion of LEAD Valedictory 2019.

LEADership is also about creating new LEADers. Once the LEAD team observes the capabilities of LEADer, they are promoted as Master LEADers and Ambassadors. Here are the list of the master leaders and ambassadors for the year 2019-20.

LEAD is a platform where everyone get to meet and listen to legends and inspiring role model.
On the occasion of LEAD Valedictory 2019 at Davangere leaders listened to Dr. Basavaraja Banakara, Chief guest who spoke about leadership qualities. He shared his experiences about his leadership experiences and the importance of them in day today day life.
Prof. Veeresh K S, Principal of Bapuji Polytechnic College, Davangere was the President of the event. He spoke about various ways of leading a better life. He explained the basic ethics of life in terms of mythical stories.
Dr. M. C. Nataraja, Principal of Bapuji Institute of Engineering and Technology was one of the guest of honour. He advised LEADers to believe in themselves no matter what people and the society say. He said, “It is only you and your efforts which matters for your success”.
Dr. K Shanmukha is a Principal of SBC First grade Women’s College, the guest of honour for the event who spoke about life ethics. He said, “Nature has created some rules for leading life and we should not violate them”. Ethics are the most valuable to lead a best the life.
Mr. Vasudev N, Principal of Govt. Polytechnic College, Hiriyur was a guest of honour for the valedictory. He shared his view about lead and the activities lead has been performing in colleges.

All the LEAD activities performed are handled by the LEADers. This event was volunteered by the LEADers of Davangere. All of them were appreciated for conducting this event successfully. The event came to end with the cultural activities performed by LEADers. LEADer Guruputra, UBDT College shared vote of thanks to everyone for spending their valuable time at the valedictory. The event was definitely a promising one that would boost the confidence of young LEADers into making this world a better place.
