The 8th day of Prayanees started with the journey towards Samarthanam the school for disabled children early in the morning at 5.30 am before the sunrise. With the sleepy eyes and curious hearts the prayanees bored the buses from Mysore. The had activities along the journey and discussions along the road which kept their energy going. They also had a unique experience of having breakfast in the bus along the journey.

Reached the Samarthanam at 9.45 am where they received a warm welcome from the Samarthanam Trust. Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled is a National Award winning NGO established in the year 1997 by Founder Managing Trustee Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar and his schoolmate and childhood friend, Late. Nagesh SP. Samarthanam works for the empowerment of persons with disabilities and the undeserved. Samarthanam caters to people in need by providing plethora of services including quality education, accommodation, nutritious food, vocational training, sports and placement based rehabilitation. The initiatives of Samarthanam strive towards creating opportunities for them to keep pace with the rest of the society.


The Prayanees had a glance at the special classrooms, library, the training class, computer class and whole infrastructure of the children. After the visit Mrs Vasanti the founder addressed the prayanees and explained the motto of the organisation and all the struggles and success story of the organisation. They believe each child is a special gift of God so they call them as Specially abled children. The session was ended by the beautiful performances of dance and songs by the specially abled children of Samarthanm.

After the delicious meal arranged by the Samarthanm the prayanies were ready to experience the most memorable experience of lead prayana which makes this journey more worth coming. The prayanees were divided in 10 different teams and were given a task to reach the near by police stations assigned by metro.

The challenge given was to reach the police stations and know their working and role towards maintaining the city in peace and harmony. Also a small word of gratitude to their selfless service towards the society. The teams left to perform the task after receiving the proper instructions. After the task all the teams assembled at upparpete police station at 6.30 pm to meet and interact with the youth icon well known as ‘Super Cop’ by youth IPS Officer Ravi Channanavar the DCP west division Bangalore.

All the prayanees were eagerly waiting to have DCP with them. Finally the session started at 7.30 pm. The energy of the students when Mr. Ravi Channanavar entered the room was visible by thunder of applause for more than 5 min. The session started and the words of the super cop left goosebumps on everyone present in the room. Sir spoke and interacted with high energy till 10.30 pm telling how a youth is the important part of society.

He suggested them to never have inferiority complex about them. He encouraged to have high goals in life and motivated to work hard to achieve it. He said always think how you can give back to the society. Be a blessing to society and not a problem. The Prayanees were highly charged by the session. It was truly an amazing interaction.
