Donate Blood and save a life

Have you ever experienced the happiness after a blood donation?? There is no greater joy than saving a soul.  We don’t have to be always a doctors to save life. Sometimes all we need is a pure soul which wishes to save a life. Blood is the important part of a human body without which no life can exist. Since blood cannot be manufactured outside the body and has a limited shelf life, the supply must constantly be replenished by generous blood donors. It is important to know that human blood cannot be manufactured, people are the only source of it and that is why it is important to donate blood and help those who need it. It is also possible to store our own blood for your future needs also in case of the emergencies. We should make sure the blood is stored at a good blood bank and used correctly. The reason to donate is simple, it helps save lives. In fact, every two seconds of every day, someone needs blood.

One such initiative was taken by our LEADers of Kautalaya Fellowship, DET Hubli on the account of 19th Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July. A overwhelming event of Blood donation camp was conducted in huge scale.  The function started with the regular rituals and later the crowd headed towards the main event of the day, i.e. Blood Donation Drive which was held in DET (Deshpande Education Trust). The main Moto behind this camp was to address the deficiency of blood donation and its components in India. On this day total 1500 determined youth donated blood enthusiastically to bring success to this event. This event was a grand success leading to the huge impact on the young generation on the awareness of the blood donation. All the eligible students including the staff of DET donated the blood contributing to the grand success of the camp.

Another excellent job of saving life is being carried out by our LEADer Sanjay S. from Ballari. There is hospital near the college of our LEADer Sanjay. Every day he witnessed the requirement of the blood for the patients and the people would come to their college seeking help for the donation. This moved our LEADers and they have started the donation on the regular basis in their college. It is ongoing process and students keep donating blood on the regular basis. Their main goal is to help the people who are in emergency.

There’s no end to the benefits of donating blood for those who need it.  One donation can save as many as three lives. It turns out that donating blood doesn’t just benefit recipients but there are health benefits for donors too, on top of the benefits that come from helping others. Donating blood has benefits for our both emotional and physical health like reduce stress, improve your emotional well-being, benefit your physical health, help get rid of negative feelings, provide a sense of belonging and reduce isolation etc. Every blood door is a life saver.

Hope you will also get inspired by the initiative taken by our LEADers and start donating blood. After looking at these events we really feel happy and willingness to donate the blood. Great job by the LEADers and hope they continue the same. Let us all pledge to donate blood whenever required and bring our Humanity into action and not just sit and say.
